Title: Bad performance when flames are on screen (Linux)
Post by: Langley on August 24, 2014, 05:26:03 PM
Hello,

Whenever the flamethrowers are on screen, the performance of the game drops almost to the point of unplayability. It makes the fire maze in the Chambers area kinda impossible to get through (Any way to turn the flame turrets off?)

Running on Ubuntu 14.04.1 x64
Using the newest drivers from AMD's site
Processor is Athlon II X3 460
Video card is Radeon HD 7700
8 GB of RAM.

Turning all the options down doesn't do any difference.
I tried installing the mono-runtime thing, but it almost seemed to make it worse, so I uninstalled it again.

Any ideas?

I run on normal windows, and when the flamethrower throws fire, my performance drops to about 25 fps, which is still playable, but annoying. But, i used to use linux, and i've noticed that linux is extremely laggy compared to windows, it isn't really suited for gaming. All i can say, is use proprietary drivers, which i assume you already use. I was thinking it might have something to do with OpenGL on linux and DirectX on windows, but i'm not sure.
