Custom Maps / Re: [Campaign] Announcing - Ravenwatch

Would love to play through it! Hopefully there's still enough of a community lingering around to get a team run on it.

Anyway, I hope they'll want to play again, because I enjoyed the game a lot and I'd like to play some more soon, but I'm not terribly interested in playing solo.

Playing solo still has its uses in collecting achievements and testing out the classes (especially once the new ones come out), as you're not being rushed by other people and you can quit/reload on your own time to conserve lives if you're quick enough between death + respawn.

However, you are still right, the lifeblood of this game is in both the multiplayer and the shared community of custom maps/campaigns, neither of which is particularly without flaws/issues at the moment.

Was the 'singing woman' heard in part of the Act 1/2 tracks a synthesized SFX, or an actual vocalist? If the latter, do we know who it was?

#Personally I don't like inf-lives and wouldn't mind changing that to like x5 lives or so, but I don't know what other people think and what the rest of the dev team thinks about that. I dislike it for the same reason you just mentioned, takes out the tension, but it might still be to hard with just the regular lives. Maybe we can add another option for it.

I will make a note that it can seem like the # of lives is too low, but having JUST completed a run on Medium the other night, I also know that for a decent group playing through the game, the COST of EXTRA lives can be way too low, especially when you're literally racking up coins from the final areas. We were dipping down below 10 remaining lives by Floor 12, but between all of us we were able to purchase about 71 Extra Lives right before the final boss (granted, having collected 42+ Tokens helped). This was DESPITE still being endgame skillwise (I ignored Frost Nova completely, and my ranger friends ignored Flurry, but we still had all our HP/MP upgrades, I had maxed-out Meteor, etc.)

It may be worth looking into a "rising value" for the shop items, where the first purchase is super cheap but it keeps getting higher and higher each time you purchase, ie that first Extra Life may be only 100 gold but the 10th may be 2000 (just random numbers). This will cause players to ask themselves "do I REALLY need another one of this?", to be less wasteful of the ones they purchase, and be more cautious overall. It can also foster communication between team members, especially if the values are separate for each player ("Hey, my Extra Life costs 1500 now, can someone buy theirs for cheaper?").

Well I'm glad to hear that you don't play the warlock often. It's a terrible character. You should leave it as it is. :P

Warlock is a true "late game" destroyer. A lot of people seem to think he's early-game OP because of his starting stats but he's really a walking sandbag most of the time once his HP runs out. Then you get to Act 3, and his Life Steal, Mana Steal, and Thunderstorm skills basically wipe entire maps out.

Huh! Maybe they changed something about the user search? You are right, I was able to find myself using just "sonicmega", but since there's 2 others besides me you want to add the one with a hedgehog-looking icon w/ white hair.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll edit my original post if possible.

I pretty much always play wizard because of the facts mentioned above. He's super squishy in the beginning, and admittedly even in later boss fights he can be tough to keep alive. However, in both Boss 2 and 3 he has an amazing battle-finisher in the form of his Flame Breath; if you purchase an invulnerability potion and unload his entire MP bar's worth of Flame Breath onto the boss, you can usually take them out from 25-30% Boss HP left (with 4 people), 30-35% (with 3 people), and 40-45% (with 2).

If you have Rangers that can fire at them from the sides while he's focused on you (for being the closest party member to him), this can go by even faster, especially if they have Crit.

TL;DR Wizard is always at risk of being obliterated from an unlucky trap or a group of enemies, but his damage output potential is unmatched. I would expect him to be among the first classes to be nerfed if any of them had to be.

I am curious as to how you guys play Paladin though. Whenever I try him out he always seems to be the class I take the most damage with, as though he's far too melee for a game with a habit of throwing projectiles and groups at you. Any tips on playing him 'right' would be much appreciated.

Bug Reports / GAME-ENDING BUG: Warlock
« on: November 30, 2013, 02:34:13 AM »
Just a warning to all you Warlock players out there: there's currently a bug where if you heal (from Life Steal) at the precise moment a hit kills you, you'll be "stuck" in that you'll be shown to have HP but the game treats you like you're dead.

You won't respawn, activating a checkpoint doesn't fix it, and your partner(s) can't go through doors to reset you. You basically will never be leaving the floor you "died" on.

Hopefully the creator will see this in time to patch it.

Hammerwatch Discussion / Looking for Groups! My deets/player inside
« on: November 30, 2013, 02:32:52 AM »
Greetings and hello! I didn't see a subforum for group requests/invitations, so I just thought I'd make a thread here.

This is basically my announcement/invitation to anyone who may want to add a friend on Steam for campaign/survival/whatever runs.

I usually run a Wizard (very successfully), however, I can also provide backup as a ranger or Warlock if the team prefers.

Rest assured, I'm not a newbie at this game. Besides running a solo campaign all the way through, I also am responsible for all of the noted Secret Areas (and their instructions to find) on the HammerWatch Wiki! So, I know my way around a dungeon or two.

Interested? You can add me on steam via "sonicmega". Just message me after I add you and let me know you found me on here.

Hope to party up with some of you soon!
