Technical Support / Re: Bought on GoG but didn't download newest version.
« on: November 29, 2014, 10:42:04 PM »
Are you sure you verified the version you redeemed on Steam? This always fixes updates not being downloaded. You could also just reinstall the game if not.
I just looked on the Humble Store and the version they are offering is 1.3, so the Temple of the Sun update. I don't know what you two are doing wrong, but you definitely are doing something wrong. I hope you know that with buying the DRM-free version you don't get an auto-updater, but have to download and install the game after every update.
To do this:
Go to https://www.humblebundle.com/home or https://www.gog.com/account
Then search for Hammerwatch there, download and install it.

Two more tips:
GOG always shows you if there are updates for your games available on the library page.
If you know what a torrent is, use the torrent option in your humble library.

Hammerwatch Discussion / Re: How do I beat the survival mode?
« on: November 16, 2014, 11:10:49 AM »
I played with 2 friends. I'm ranger. My 2 paladin friends went farming crystals while I farm around in the beginning, until stuff got hard so I just camped and kill stuff while surviving by the shop in the middle while my friend went to farm the rest. It was a 3 man team. We tried again a 4 man team but my new friend was a newb so that went to hell :P .

As ranger at first I max out move speed to dodge stalamite then I went for mainly all damage and then just dodge and kill stuff or look for chest on the floor if they're in areas that aren't too risky. My paladin friends farmed the crystals and such. By the time we got to the Lich boss, my paladin friends just focus on healing or dealing with small fries and then I deal with the boss.

That was exactly the way I wanted to do it, but just running around as a ranger is a bit boring... I know I can't do anything other as soon as the fairy-thingies spawn but it's still a bit sad. Our next run will be 3 paladins and one ranger, I am sure we can do it that way.

Hammerwatch Discussion / How do I beat the survival mode?
« on: November 15, 2014, 11:03:57 PM »
I was trying the survival mode with 3 friends and several different combinations (All paladin, 2 paladins, 2 warlocks, etc.).
The only method that would work is having 3 paladins play until the lich is going to spawn, then have one ranger enter, buy all his damage upgrades and finish the lich. This seems like cheating to me, so I'd like to know if there is an actual working combination.

I have the same problem but mine is a little bit strange, I bought hammerwatch ages ago via Steam, but i can't update it, is like steam does not know there is an update. I've been looking over a lot of pages and there seems not to be a way to force an update. Here is a photo  http://gyazo.com/88edae737cc8660a2cfaddc6bba5e9ba
This way should solve your problem:
Go to Steam library
Right click on Hammerwatch
Properties
Local Files
Verify integrity of game cache

Steam should download all the missing files including the update. Using this method you also don't have to worry about your save files.

Technical Support / Bug from some patches before still existing.
« on: November 11, 2014, 08:22:05 PM »
Sometimes when playing with my friends and we go through a door one of the players just has "Waiting for [other players' names]" on his screen and everyone else is waiting for him. Nothing happens until the "disconnected" player uses Alt+F4 to exit and rejoin.
If this is not a problem on our side but an actual bug I will post it again under the bugs section.

Hammerwatch Discussion / Re: Three possible features for the next patch

I saw some other games that were more demanding doing it, so why not Hammerwatch? Would probably still run with minimal lag.

why this forum exists?

I'm no expert, but I'd guess "because the game isn't steam exclusive".

Thanks for reminding me. Forgot that there is a DRM-free Hammerwatch version, too.

Hammerwatch Discussion / Three possible features for the next patch
« on: October 07, 2014, 05:51:44 PM »
Local co-op with other players online
At the moment you can only play with players online OR you play coop on the same computer but you can't play with one friend at your computer while having two other friends join you from elsewhere. A game where this is well implemented would be Curve Fever.

Split-screen for local coop
It's a bit annoying that you have to be near each other in local co-op. You can't, for example, clear one passage while the other player deals with the other side. A split-screen would solve that.

Synchronisation with the Steam Cloud
Not much to say about this one. It's not necessary because saves in Hammerwatch are not that important but it would be nice to have it, in case the hard drive crashes.

If these features would be implemented the game would be perfect. Great job so far, I really like the new campaign.

Hammerwatch Discussion / Why are we not using the Steam discussions?
« on: October 07, 2014, 05:46:07 PM »
Can anyone explain why this forum exists? It's extremely confusing to have two forums. I posted something on the Steam discussions but don't even know if the developers will ever see it.
On Steam, we could easily create subforums for bug reports or suggestions, so why not do it there?
We should either close the Steam discussions (if that is possible) and only leave the topic that leads to this forum or close this forum. Having two forums is not very convenient for the users and the developers.

Also, this forum needs a "Suggestions" section, so there is one section about talking about the Hammerwatch at the moment and one about the Hammerwatch of the future.
