Okay it seems like I solved the problem - I don't know exactly how but I bought the game via humble bundle and you got there the option to install it manually. After doing so it worked with the manual installed game and also with the Steam version.

Technical Support / Game crashes right at the start

Hello there,

I could play the game yesterday without a problem but today it just keeps crashing.
I tried reinstalling several times, deleted the whole folder and reinstalled, tried the DEBUG mode and looked in the internet for solutions where it was suggested to download "OpenAL32.dll", but that didnt work either.

I have checked that my graphicsdriver and it has the newest version available.

Thank you for your help!

Edit: Maybe I should mention that there is no crash report! Also I don't get an error code. There is just a message saying that Hammerwatch stopped working.

I copied some information in hope they provide some insight. If you need addition informations please say so. :)
