Editor Discussion / Selling items in a custom shop (Trick??)

Hey all,

So as you might know it is possible to add custom items/corresponding global flags to a shop.
And for those items you can set a cost. (Can be done in the shared.xml, to edit or tweak custom items/shop categories check out the tutorial for that)

Setting the cost to a negative number will grant you that much gold upon buying. (Effectively selling if you set things up right)
Unfortunately the vendor coins also work on that number and bring it closer to zero.

My custom campaign is nearing release and will feature the selling of custom items found around the game world.
I just thought it was a neat little trick that I have not seen done before and wanted to share.

So, Ive seen a few mods do this. The only thing I can say and I know it's not helpful, is that the game wasn't designed for this, it bugs out in multiplayer, it's not a stable way of doing things I'm afraid.

Enemies aren't always properly synced so puzzles like these tends to break in multiplayer, even if you have a really good ping to each other.

Thank you for the quick reply, this will save me a lot of time trying to fix something that is not meant to be fixed.
I have one other option, but that is going to take a lot of scripts/time.

I'll put it in the "Nice to realise" pile until I have fixed all the main issues with my custom map  ;D.

Hi editors,

I have a relatively puzzle heavy custom map, so I run into these kinds of problems a lot.
But there is one I have not been able to solve. (Hopefully with your help I can)

The bug only happens in Multiplayer testing

The puzzle: (See image)
I have a few statues which I can move by pushing them. (inspired by the custom campaign Hexen: Beyond Hammerwatch)
The statues are actually enemies with no attack and their movement is set to zero.
-If you push them to the runes an area trigger either lowers or raises the bridge.
- Get the right combination and you can cross the bridge.

What goes wrong/the error in multiplayer:
Whenever other players try to move the statues they appear to jump/teleport or move on their own a bit.
At first for them it looks like they are pushing the statues, but after a second or two they have walked past it.
As the host I can still push them the way I intend.

I am fairly certain this is not an issue with the internet connection.

I have tried increasing the collision area of the statues, but that did not work.
I think I need a different method of making pushable/moveable statues.

If anybody has any idea how to solve this one, I would be really grateful.

Hi,

I recently had the same (or a very similar) error, but I am not sure how I solved it.
However: I was working on my laptop and when I unplugged the HDMI cable it returned to normal .(When switching from the tv screen back to the laptop screen)

I think restarting and/or opening a different level might help.

Sorry I have no real solution, but if it keeps happening post it in the bug report section of the forum.
Or alternatively on the steam workshop, hopefully someone has an answer to this problem.

No, luckily I kept a backup of my campaign on google drive.
I would very much like to post a version of my campaign for people on the forum to test. (Somewhere in march/april)

I Have been testing the campaign with friends for a while, but they know all the secrets, answers to puzzles and best methods of defeating enemies.
Need some fresh eyes on the project when I have worked out the currently known issues.

Hi there,

I have made a new account, because frankly I do not remember the e-mail address I used for my other account on this forum.
Last time while registering (2 years ago) I had to use something other than g-mail to make it work. So I made an e-mail account and left the forum on "logged in forever"

My last pc crashed and here I am with no access or way to get my account back.

If possible I would very much like to start over and register a new account on an e-mail I actually use.
Question: Is there a way to register on this forum using a gmail.com e-mail account? (I get an error every time I try)
