Hammerwatch Discussion / Re: New Class Ideas
« on: August 29, 2014, 01:02:14 PM »
From reading this Editor Guide: http://hammerwatch.com/forum/index.php?topic=2026.msg4221#msg4221

I see that we can make entire new enemies with custom sprites and set their health, speed, attacks, etc.
I also see that we can tweak existing class stats and upgrades through vendor.

I'm not fluent in programming or coding, but I imagine wouldn't they create both monsters and the heroes the same way in the code due to many overlapping traits such as health, attack, speed, etc? Kind of like square is rectangle but rectangle isn't square thing, where they both stem from a parent "Unit" class yet are treated slightly differently in code.

I could just be stupid and way over simplifying how coding works, sorry if I sound like that.
The difference between an AI unit and a Player is that you can't change the spells of the player.
But you got half of the idea.

how embarassing i guess when i thought i clicked to next page i clicked too next thread and posted a reply in wring thread was meant for the beta thread
It's alright. I can put a link to the patchnotes in the Channel's topic, if Hipshot makes the notes. :)

Also maybe a direct link to the IRC posted here? I've never used IRC before and took me a while to find Hammerwatch.
Done. :D

I'd just put it into the "levels" folder or make a "levels/custom" folder, because the workshop is for Steam maps.

Wouldn't it be easier to just create a steam group? Like HammerEditors?
It was me and 4 idlers in there wohoo!
Me, Esper, Cafe, and Stupid?
Esper and Cafe are bots, Stupid never talks and I'm on if I'm not sleeping or working. Shiftybot comes around a bit (and brings his brother), Ramond sits here every now and then, and Hipshot isn't really as active as any of the others, but is great to talk to.
And about the Steam Group, I've not really seen the groups all that active, even for big games, and much less for chat.
Just come back again whenever you feel like it. It's not password protected so you're free to disconnect and reconnect at will. (And please stop by for more than 4 minutes. c:)

Well, this is pretty gamebreaking. I placed the second mirror first, then the first one.
Also note the random question mark in the corner.
If you place the third one in, it will break the objects in the way but not activate the beam for the third mirror.
When you place the fourth one, it will work as intended.
But this can still be game-breaking.

I don't have a picture of it, but in Krilith's storage room, after you destroy the healing post, and the entrance is a little broken, you can hug the wall from the right side at the start, head up, and you'll be able to exit the map.
Plus, you actually have to reenter the room to be able to pick up all of Krilith's loot, which I find a little stupid, because you can miss the loot and think you weren't rewarded. As a fix, you can probably do what you do with normal Hammerwatch campaigns and have a room open to the side, where it has all of the loot. Or make Krilith drop a key.
And one thing that I hated was the Krilith boss fight entirely. It was a nice idea, but I think that it was too hard (as a paladin) to get in and actually deal damage to him.

Bug Reports / Re: Controller cannot be used in every menu
« on: August 14, 2014, 12:42:42 AM »
Because Controller support is trying to be done and Mr. Dev. is working as hard as he can. Give him time, because creating controller support for computer-based games is actually not as easy as Keyboard and Mouse support.

You can manually type your own selection.
If the Editor was still open while you imported hit, just hold ctrl and hit r to refresh everything on the editor.

The mole hole boss, is meant to reset his health, as every mole i think has their own hp bar. I killed like 4 moles, and there was one left, which had it's own hp bar, and it actually went down, unlike the others, and once it went down, i won.
Interesting. Then rather then being a bug, is it that the display is unclear?
Observed. Each hole DOES have its own health.
I think somebody should add a more variable boss health system to the moddable GUI. ;)

I like this campaign. Nice work.
I'll be playing this more tomorrow, and doing a more thorough list of faults and little minor things.
But one thing that bugged me was the rocks on the surface didn't have a map icon. So it looked like you could go a certain path in the map, but you really couldn't.

The Hammerwatch is still active. You can sometimes catch Shiftybot on there too. Don't be afraid to stop by.

Where might I find the Paladin Textures? I want to recolor it so I can use the textures for a guard in my Campaign.

I kinda only understood what you meant in the first sentence.
And yeah, that would actually be a nice idea, to load up the entire campaign in one Editor.
It would be a RAM hog, but there's nothing you can do to help with that.

There should be a way for the Paladin to be able to kill him. Forcing people to play classes they aren't comfortable with is bad.
