Different Board Software!
« on: September 13, 2013, 05:35:32 AM »
So I've been trying to get Myran to use phpbb3 instead because it is a whole lot better than our current one. We can even convert the current data we have to it as well

http://www.phpbb.com/

Converter: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?p=13219422#p13219422

I shouldn't take any longer then 30 mins at the most.

If I could get a current copy of the database I would do it myself and just give you files and you would only have to change the mysql information in the files and upload the file.

So anyone else would like a better forum software?

While I agree that phpbb is better, so is Vbulletin :P Although I think vbulletin is a paid bb. I like phpbb but I can't say that I'm not enjoying this one as well, it's working just fine. The only thing I'd say is that it needs a makeover Hammerwatch style! :D

What features of phpbb are you wanting that this one doesn't have? It might help your argument a bit better to list them?

lol

I do web development and phpbb is a lot easier to make themes for and the framework is easier to modify. You find more people willing to work with phpbb since it is the biggest open source bb. The PM system has a better notification system. I'd like to make a file archive for mods and open resources so it is easier to find and download.

All in all it's more for the framework

I could make a theme yes, It's wouldn't be the best thing in the world since graphic design is not my strong suite but if someone helped me than it would be 10x better

Personally I like this one, I mean, why try to fix something that doesn't need fixing?
