[Linux] Menu music plays, but black screen
« on: August 17, 2013, 07:30:07 PM »
Hello. I can't play the game. All I see is a window with a black screen and the menu music is playing.

I'm on Arch Linux 64bit, AMD Radeon HD 6670, Catalyst 13.8b. I attached the error.txt from the beta version from your website. The Steam version also has a black screen.

Hum..  so your graphics card driver fails to compile any shader and it won't give any error message. You can try downloading this config file:
http://www.hammerwatch.com/config.xml
Change
<ShaderSupport>true</ShaderSupport>
to
<ShaderSupport>false</ShaderSupport>

And put it in the hammerwatch folder.

I did that with the ShaderSupport (false), but the error messages are the same... see attachment.

Also this is what I get from the console/terminal:

$ mono Hammerwatch.exe
libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile (several times)
libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile
Could not get XIM
KDE colorscheme read failure, using built-in colorscheme

I use KDE 4.10.5.

With the new update from Friday the 13th, instead of having a black screen with music playing, the game just doesn't start. See error(1).txt.

I'm using an Ubuntu and an Arch on the same Machine. Hammerwatch runs perfect under Ubuntu, but on Arch I just see a black screen, also with an error.log telling the shaders aren't working. On Arch I installed mono.

Maybe a depency to a graphics library is missing?

I could just run Ubuntu, but Arch is my main system, so I'm looking forward for a solution. Any Ideas?

Maybe you use the open-source radeon driver on Ubuntu and Catalyst on Arch Linux? Because it works fine with the open-source driver, but not with Catalyst. Or maybe it is a specific version of Catalyst, that has problems with Hammerwatch.

This means, you got your HammerWatch to run on your Arch with the open-source drivers? I will look for this on Ubuntu.

Yes, with the open-source-drivers, I can play it, not with Catalyst.
