Class suggestion list [Master Thread]

So I made this account with the purpose of asking the devs if they planned to add any more classes to Hammer watch. In the process of Writing "Hipshot" a Private message on the matter, I started a list of possible classes that could be added. I accidentally created a list of so large that it was taller than my 1080p monitor, and I realize that it might be better if I just made a thread about this.

I've seen several other threads suggesting Classes that could be added, and the abilities they could have, so I decided to make a master thread for all class suggestions. The idea is that I'll post my massive list of class ideas, with a drop down spoiler tab for each one. As suggestions are made by others for abilities that could given to these classes, I'll edit this main post to have the added information for each class suggestion. This will make it easier for everyone who wants to suggest a class, and for the Devs to look and see what suggestions have been made.

Honestly, if this game had 50 classes I wouldn't mind in the slightest. MOBAs already have the same camera angle as this game, and LoL, and DotA both have over 100 unique characters/classes/Champions/Heros each.

I have put some basic ideas with each class name just to get everyone thinking.
Any of these ideas can be changed if someone makes a better/more interesting suggestion for the class.

Things to keep in mind:

 - Every class should be unique and have their own abilities and gameplay.
 - Classes can be similar and still be interesting and unique.
 - Some Ranged attacks have very short range, but still qualify as Ranged.
 - Just because you don't like something, doesn't mean that everyone else dislikes it too.
 - Provide constructive criticism for things you don't like. DO NOT START A FLAME WAR.
 - Just because you had the same idea, doesn't mean that someone else stole it
 - Somethings are very hard to implement into the game. Try not to over complicate abilities or anything else.
 - Try to be open minded, and look for the flaws in your own ideas. Just because it's your idea, doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Here's a brief thing about what stuff means:

 - "Melee?/Ranged?" Means that it hasn't decided if they are melee or ranged yet.
 - "Melee/Ranged" Without question marks, means that their basic attack is ranged unless there is an enemy within melee range.
 - "Melee" Means that their basic attack is always Melee (but upgrades from the shop *could* potentially change this in some cases.)
 - "Ranged" Means that their basic attack is always going to be ranged.
 - Italicized text is a brief description of what the character, and what they can do.
 - "Long-Melee" means that its a melee based attack, but that the character is using a long spear or lance, so they have a greater range that most Melee attacks.
 - If the spoiler says "Spoiler for:" There's nothing there yet. If it says "Spoiler for More Info" I have put more information there.
 - If Attack Speed is doubled for something, they will attack 2 times for each press of the attack button. (just like the Thief)

Uses Throwing Knives as a basic attack.

Attacking will make you visible if you are invisible, but you will deal bonus damage for 1 second.(Upgradable)
Invisibility lasts 6 seconds at default. (Upgradable)

Berserker - Melee - Dual wields axes and gains damage the lower his HP is.

Wields dual axes.

Starting ability, you will spin forward (faster than just moving, but slowing than the paladins dash), Dealing damage to everything within melee range in 360 degrees.
Enemies are pushed along with you while spinning, but will not attack while being pushed.
You can still take damage from projectiles when spinning.
You're always moving while spinning, but you can change direction by trying to move in the direction you want.
Black Smith - Melee - Uses a hammer. Because we need a class that uses a Hammer since the game is Called hammer watch. ;)

Can use Hammer to Smash the ground and knock enemies away, while also dealing Damage.
Billmen - Long-Melee - A soldier who used a Bill, which is a type of spear.

Brawler - Melee - Drinks alcohol to gain damage. Alcohol = mana. Mana constantly goes down.

You deal damage based on how much mana you have.
Each mana point is equal to .25 damage. You start with 32 mana.
picking up a damage rune upgrade will raise the damage per mana point by .1
when you have over 80% mana, you deal 20% bonus damage.
Your starting ability is called meditate, Which causes your mana bar to re-charge Very rapidly.
When meditating, you move as 50% move speed.
Attacking does not slow you down at all.
While attacking, each time you hit an enemy, there is a 50% chance to deal 50% of the damage dealt as area damage.
You loose 1-3 mana every second.
 - 1 When standing Still while attacking.
 - 2 when standing still without attacking.
 - 2 when moving while attacking.
 - 3 when moving without attacking.
With no Mana he will still deal damage as though he had 25% of his mana.
Other abilities still use up your mana as regular mana.

Deceiver - Melee?/Ranged? - Creates Illusions of Themself to distract enemies.

Creates an Illusion of yourself that will walk forward for 4 seconds and then disapear.
The illusion cannot take damage, and will walk through enemies.
The illusion can't walk through walls, or over impassable terrain, it will stop walking if it encounters these things.
While the illusion is alive you are invisable.
You can attack for 80% damage while invisable.
You will stay invisable while attacking.
You can still be damaged while invisible.
Demolitionist - Ranged - Uses explosives and mines.

Basic Attack is an explosive concoction.
Once the attack button is pressed, the concoction is active and will blow up after 2 seconds.
The explosion deals area damage.
If you hold the attack button down, you will hold the concoction, instead of immediately throwing it.
Once the attack button is released, the concoction is thrown.
The concoction will explode in your hand if held long enough.

Starting ability is a mine. It explodes after 12 seconds, or when an enemy touches it.
Druid - Melee?/Ranged? - Uses nature/animals to help him? Open for suggestion.

Duelist - Melee - taunts enemies into Duals to kill them more quickly

Uses 2 Swords

Starting ability is a ranged projectile that will taunt a single target.
Taunted target will become grey, but will act like a Red Aggrivated enemy.
Taunted enemy will take 200% damage from all sources.
Taunt lasts 4 seconds.
During taunt your attack speed is doubled.
      
 • Elementalist - Melee/Ranged - Can switch between 3 different elemental basic attacks and abilities of different ranges. Abilities cycle between the 3 in order.

Basic attack can change between 3 different elements.
 - Ice : A mid range. Deals area damage. Has a 25% chance to slow enemies for 2 seconds.
 - Fire : A melee range. Deals area damage. Has a 10% chance to lite enemies on fire to deal damage over time.
 - Lightning : Long range. Deals single target damage. Has a 10% (5% on bosses) chance to stun for 2 seconds.

Has 3 abilities. Which cost 20 mana each. You start with 100 mana.
Abilities will cycle based on which ability was last used.
 - Ice shard : Ranged ability. Single target damage. Upon hiting something has a 10% chance to slow enemies in the area.
 - Fire strike : You charge forward through enemies. Does not deal damage. Enemies you pass through have a 50% chance to lite on fire.
 - Lightning Bold : You are struck with a lightning bolt. Deals area damage around you. Has a 20% chance to stun.
Basic Attack will use element that your last ability used.
Enchanter/Enchantress - Melee?/Ranged? - Enchants enemies for short periods of time to fight for them

Enforcer - Melee - Large Tanky character that can stomp on the ground to stun enemies in an area around him.

Your weapon is jars/bottles of herbs.
Upon hitting something, or reaching the end of it's range, explodes dealing area damage.
 - Can heal allies if you hit them.
 - Has a chance poison enemies if you hit them.

When you pick up food or Health items, you also gain mana.
Your first ability is an area heal for yourself and allies.
It is also an area poison  for 2 seconds for enemies.
When you use any ability the last health item you picked up (if you have picked any up) will appear in front of you.
Housecarl - Melee - Household troops, personal warriors and equivalent to a bodyguard to Scandinavian lords and kings.

Protector - Melee - Uses a Very Large Shield both defensively and offensively.

Can upgrade to block damage from the front of you.
Can place the shield on the ground for a short amount of time to block enemy movement.
Can be upgraded to block projectiles when put on the ground.
Purifier - Ranged - Heals, and Removes debuffs (slows and stuff) for Themself and allies in an area around Themself, while damaging enemies in that area.

Basic attack is a fire blast that appears a short distance in front of him (think the range of the Priest's basic attack)
Has a 10% to lite enemies on fire for 3 seconds.

1st Ability is a fire wall. It starts at his locaton, and will form in the direction he is facing.
Enemies the enter the fire wall are slowed slightly and lite on fire.
After leaving the fire wall, enemies will continue to burn for 3 seconds.

Ronin - Melee - A Samurai without a Lord. Credit to ZarroTsu (x)

RŌNIN

A samurai without a lord, the Ronin is a middle-ground melee class. While not as strong as the Paladin or Theif in terms of offense, the Ronin's greatest ability is using the enemy's numbers against them. He can gain mana with every enemy killed, and unleash very powerful skills. Counter to this, however, his mana will constantly reduce over time.

Appearance

The Ronin prefers no hat or helmet, and wears his messed grey hair in a short pony-tail behind his head. He is equipped with a long katana, and wears a red Japanese surcoat, with a white shirt underneath. Light blue Hakama. White Tabi with beige sandals.

  • Fires a crescent-shaped, wide projectile in a straight line.

Gameplay & Strategy

While playing as the Ronin, you have to constantly throw yourself at the enemy to keep your mana up, both as a recovery tactic and to prevent losing it. After killing enough enemies, he can unleash his stronger abilities to decimate more enemies, and this in turn provides a nice cycle of fast-paced gameplay.

Might be difficult to use in multiplayer parties due to other players 'stealing' kills.

The recovery potion becomes incredibly valuable as a mana booster, and can help set up Gekido on a whim. If used at the right time, you can keep the Battle Lust going, and stay in Bloodlust mode for a very long time.

Basic attack will charge forward, if an enemy or a detructible object infront of you, and within a certain range.
The Charge will stop if you encounter impassable terrain.
Colliding with enemies will knock them back and deal damage.

All abilities will change your form.
You have 3 forms you can get.
If you are already in a form, using it again will change you back to being Human.
Maybe starts with all 3 abilities/forms?
Forms are:
 - Wolf : Sacrifice 40% total HP, and 20% Damage to gain 60% more Movement speed.
 - Turtle : Sacrifice 20% total Damage, and 40% Move Speed for 60% more HP.
 - Bear : Sacrifice 30% total Move speed, and HP, for 60% more Damage.
Sheriff - Melee?/Ranged? - This term was used in Medieval times, and basically just meant someone with authority over the area. Open for Suggestion.

1st ability is a Bear trap. When enemies touch it, it deals damage in an area, and stuns for 1 second.
2nd Ability is a trip wire. When facing a close wall, you can set a trip wire from your location to the wall.
When enemies step in the trip wire, they are slowed for 1 second, and 2 arrows are shot from the wall to damage them.
The arrows will each pearce through 2 enemies.

There's probably no way they would implement this many characters... but if they did I would love them so much. I would also help in anyway that I could. I used to do pixel art a few years ago. I was considering making a custom campaign with some of my own sprites.

Anyway, I hope everyone likes the (10 hours] [I lost count] of) work I put into this post. Don't worry, I had fun doing it. I tried to look up every possible class name that could be used without using ones that didn't fit into the theme of the game. (such as 'Gunner' or 'Sniper')

The idea was that I would put everyone's ideas into the main post. They would receive Credit of course, and the post where they made the suggestion would be linked with there suggestion.

I'll add your "Ronin" Suggestion as it's own class, separate from Samurai, if that's alright.

Hey ZarroTsu, Looking over your Ronin Class, The mana degeneration seems a little too harsh, simply because at the start of the game you would loose all mana in about 20 seconds. The game has large areas where many players may want to back track, and if they've already killed all the enemies then they're stuck with no mana.... Obviously this isn't as much of an issue once you upgrade the mana loss, the mana gain, and focus.

It seems like the idea behind it was that they can only use there skills in battle, because that's the only time they would have any mana. This is an interesting idea, and I like it, but at the same time I think it might be better with a lower mana loss. Maybe a way to slow, or stop the de-gen when moving large distances where there aren't any enemies? Or maybe the mana gain from killing enemies could be raised to 2, 4, 6, and 8. The more often a player is able to use an ability the more fun it is for them. but then again, I could be wrong about this.

It's a shame we can't test it out in game to see how it really plays.

Edit: After thinking it over taking 20 seconds isn't actually that bad, but being able to gain it back more quickly would be nice, so maybe just increase the mana gained on kill? The sooner they can use their abilities in battle, the more relevant they'll be later in the game, where killing enemies is more difficult without the use of abilities. I don't want to change anything about them in my post without you giving approval because they are your character.

The idea is your main melee is going to do a lot of damage and kill a lot of enemies, then you mix in the skills as the mana becomes available, or if you feel like chugging a restore potion.

Even then, all the skills rely on more enemies making them more effective. They'd start to kick in in Act 2, and you'd be a killing machine by Act 4.

Regardless, it's an idea that would need hands-on testing to really 'balance' at all, but I feel like it would be fun. You'd push yourself to find more enemies to kill as quickly as possible to pull off the skills, and end up racing against the mana degen as the main mode of play. All in all, that sounds like a lot of fun to me.
