This may be obvious, but I feel like the core game framework here is so robust and good that if the community had the ability to add to that this game could become huge.
I know there's a level editor which offers quite a lot beyond just standard map making, but I'm thinking modding on a larger scale. The ability to add game systems of our own like gaining experience for killing monsters, loot, skill trees etc. etc.
But to achieve this we would have to have modding capabilities similar to Minecraft or Skyrim, which may be hard to implement in praxis.
I'm saying this because I want to like this game, but I feel like I'm just playing it to explore the levels and get to the end. The basic gameplay is too repetetive and unrewarding for me. I know it's based on older games with similar gameplay, but by looking at the comments and discussions it seems many people feel the same way as me, but they all have different ideas on how to "fix" the game. Trying to meet our needs would be a neverending process and I don't see it as very profitable for the developers, but if we were able to make the game we want to play ourselves I think this could turn into a proper classic with a massive community surrounding it.
I knew all this before I bought the game from playing the beta so this is not just me whining. It's just my ideas on how this could become the game I play for the next 10 years.
